Calculate the quantities of acetone and water required to make 2L of a 70% solution.

Volume of solution is 2 litres. % concentration (v/v) is 70. Placing these values in the formula for % concentration (v/v)

From the above equation, the volume of acetone is 1.4 litres which is equal to 1400 millilitres.
As the total solution was 2 litres, the volume of water is total solution - volume of acetone i.e. 2 - 1.4 = 0.6 litres or 600 millilitres.
